Landscape Services

It is very important to note that I, like many landscape architects, are independent, that is, not directly affiliated with any landscape firm. Many “landscape designers” are. This is very important for the homeowner to understand. Yes, you are paying a significant up front design fee for a completed masterplan, but look what you get in return. You now own your masterplan free and clear, and can now independently solicit multiple “apples to apples” bids or quotes from equally qualified contractors (or we can do this for you), and, by taking the lowest qualified bid, in most cases you have, in effect, recouped most if not all of your design fee. This is how building industry professionals do it. This is the way my design services can be essentially free!

“Mike specializes in custom residential design work. He is unique in that he has an extensive horticultural background, a rarity for a landscape architect and a huge plus for the homeowner. The right plant in the right place does make a very significant difference — in maintenance costs, replacement costs, in plant health and vigor and in its beauty and utility to the homeowner.”

Decades of design and hands on landscape experience and good judgment means a masterplan that maximizes your investment in landscape…..the most “bang for your buck.” That translates directly into lower maintenance costs and a more sustainable, long lasting landscape that fits your needs long term.

Water is a big deal here in North Carolina. A well designed grading and drainage plan can solve most if not all problems like wet and moldy crawl spaces, foundation settling and cracking, and wet, soggy yards.

With a well designed water management system which might include a rain garden, an underground drain system (with cleanouts to be maintainable), a water harvesting system, drip irrigation or other low impact design/sustainable landscape concepts, your excess water can be turned into a significant asset!
