Unlike most landscape architects, many landscape contractors and landscape designers, even some landscape nurserymen and women, I know plants extremely well. I am an active and avid gardener and have a wide ranging knowledge and interest in virtually all types of hardy and semi tropical plants: from trees and shrubs, to sun loving perennials, to woodland perennials and wildflowers, to ornamental grasses, ferns and rock garden plants, native and non native. My horticultural and gardening purview extends to and encompasses a significant amount of ongoing plant research and, for lack of a better term, experimental gardening— trialing new and out of the ordinary plants for hardiness, adaptability and ornamental appeal, including new and interesting plant combinations well before they are utilized (if ever) in your masterplan and garden.
My garden is located on three and one half acres in Chatham County. I am developing, for all intents and purposes, a private botanical garden that includes a thousand square foot greenhouse. My botanical plant collection is near world class…..All of this is buttressed by a longstanding interest in ecology, meteorology, soil science and the environment.
The result?
When you hire Mike Lehmann and the Lehmann Design Group, all of this horticultural, environmental, meteorological knowledge and gardening experience is put to work for you.
This is not to say your landscape or garden needs to be a park or botanical garden. It does mean the Lehmann Design Group has the knowledge, experience and good judgment to put together a planting plan for your place that’s beautiful, appropriate, cost effective, distinctive and environmentally sound.
